Gateway Chapel is a non-denominational Christian Church in South Auburn/Lakeland Hills, WA. It was started in the Fall of 2010 by a group of friends who saw a need for a gospel centered church that would function more like a family than a franchise, and commit itself to the mission of Jesus. The name Gateway was born from a connection with John 10:9 where Jesus says "I am the gate, whoever enters through me will be saved."
Gateway's Vision is to be the Faithful Presence and Witness of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God in the White River Valley and the world beyond.
What does it mean to be the 'Faithful Presence and Witness"?
The Church is a signpost not a solution...We can't save the world but we point to Jesus who can! We don't build the Kingdom, we represent it. Our dream is to be known for our faithfulness to represent the character and life of Jesus (faithful presence) and our boldness in proclaiming the message and truth about Jesus. (witness).
What is the Gospel of The Kingdom of God?
The Gospel of the Kingdom is the good news of God's Reign. It is the message of God's faithfulness to humanity, His triumph over death and all that is being accomplished through the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus. It is the gospel message that was preached by Jesus and the disciples and apostles after him.
When people ask what we believe, sometimes they are really trying to figure out what we are like. Gateway Chapel is a non-denominational church, full of people with a variety of backgrounds and beliefs. There are some core beliefs that are critically important to us. We take them seriously. We also recognize there are many different views on life and faith and we will never agree on everything. So we seek truth from God through the Bible, and we make sure we don't fight about the things we disagree on.
Here are our core beliefs.
The Bible is the inspired, true Word of God for the Christian faith and living.
We believe in one triune God, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — coeternal in being, coeternal in nature, coequal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections.
God the Father
One in essence with the Son and Spirit. He is an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in all his attributes. He is the creator, sustainer, and sovereign ruler of all things through his Son, Jesus Christ.
God the Son
Our Lord Jesus Christ, God-the-Son, was born of a virgin, led a sinless life, performed many miracles, died in our place to pay the price for our sins, rose from the dead, ascended into heaven to the right hand of the Father and will return in power and glory.
God the Holy Spirit
That the present ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict the world of sin, to convince the world of righteousness and of judgment and to sanctify every Christian to enable them to live a godly life.
That all people are lost sinners and all who turn to Christ in saving faith are born again of the Holy Spirit. They are justified in the sight of God by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
In the resurrection of both those who believe in Jesus and those who do not believe: those believing to eternal life with Christ and those unbelieving to eternal punishment in hell.
That all who believe in Jesus become members of His body; the Church. Jesus is the head of the Church and under His authority, the local church is led by elders who are biblically qualified men.
That in God’s design for humanity, He established the family through the union of one man and one woman in a marriage covenant for life.
